Country Manager

The role of a country manager is to ease the establishment of a company abroad. His missions are numerous. Indeed, he is responsible for marketing, business but also strategy.

Tasks

The country manager develops the activity of a company in a new country. His missions are similar to an entrepreneur's: marketing, communication, business development… to create a suitable offer on the new territory. He must also implement a consistent strategy and manage PR and partnerships if the company succeeds.
In a pure player, a country manager will use webmarketing tools : CRM, emailing, displays, newsletters, social media etc. He will also plan some events and be in touch with news agencies.  
 

Working conditions

His role is essential, on both strategic and operational levels. His missions are diverse, and his day-to-day life stimulating. Because the success on this new market depends on his results, he must have a real ability to work under pressure. 

Required qualities

Dynamic and flexible, a good country manager must be versatile. An entrepreneurship mindset and a precise knowledge of the new market are necessary. 

Training

5 years of higher education in an engineering school, a business school or university. Country managers are often entrepreneurs or senior sales representatives. 

Evolution

A country manager has several options of evolution. He may become Regional Director of a subsidiary, or turn to positions like COO, Marketing / Sales director.
